Fitness And Lifestyle After 30 With Diet, Exercise And Working Pattern
Let’s change our lifestyle and achieve fitness by modifying our diet, exercise and working pattern.
WHY?
As a Pathologist practicing in Mumbai, I am required to examine blood samples of various patients. During the last eight years of my clinical practice, there has been a definite increase in the number of new patients with diabetes, blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity etc. It is all the more disturbing to know that these patients are in the age group of 30 to 40. On an average a person usually starts his career around the age of 25 years. During the next 10 years of his/her career, he/she is subjected to high mental stress, long working hours, lack of physical exercise & wrong diet. As a result, by the age of 40 he/she is diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes or heart trouble and is advised a change in lifestyle;so why not start this change early at the age of 30 & prevent the damage.
The change in lifestyle should touch 3 main areas viz. Diet, Exercise and working pattern.
Diet
Meal timings: NO matter how busy we are, Let us keep the timings of our meals fixed. The ideal timings would be — 7-8 am Breakfast, 11 am snacks, 1-2 pm lunch, 4-5 pm snacks and 8-9 pm dinner.
Diet contents: Each meal should consist of complex carbohydrates (oats, whole wheat, brown bread, brown rice) Proteins(lean meat, fish, pulses, mushroom, Soya)
Fruits & Vegetables.
Method of cooking: Let’s prefer boiling, roasting, shallow frying to prepare our meals so that minimum oil is required.
Break the diet Pattern: Let’s stick to this plan for 5-6 days a
week. But it is also important to break the diet pattern & take some liberty on weekends so that we can come back strong next week.
Working pattern
Early career: In the early part of career, one tends to overwork in pursuit of his goals. However it is important to have realistic goals. After achieving the goals, one should also learn to enjoy the success.
Mid career: It is okay to set higher goals but this expansion should be slow and not tiring for the individual.
Late career: As one moves up the ladder, he should be able to believe his subordinates & deputize his duties to them, instead of trying to do everything himself. This way he can cut down his own working hours or at least regularize his working pattern.
At the end of the day one should hit the bed early (instead of watching television) because therein lies the beginning of a new day.
Exercise
If one retires early, it is not at all difficult to get up one hour earlier than one is used to.
Exercise should be as compulsory to everyone as is brushing the teeth or shaving or taking a bath!
The daily exercise should include warm up, cardio exercises, muscle training & breathing exercises.
Warm up: The aim is to loosen all the joints;so perform rotation movements of neck, shoulders, wrist, waist etc.
Cardio exercises: One can learn different cardio exercises viz. skipping, spot jogging , brisk walking, cycling, tread mill, aerobics etc. These exercises can be done alternatively so as to have more fun.
Muscle training: Free hand exercises & Dumbells can be used to target specific muscle groups.
Upper body – Shoulders, arms, forearms
Lower body – Thighs (front, back & sides), Calves.
Abdominal and Back muscles
Breathing exercises: These can help to cool down and reduce the mental stress. They can be learned from yoga (viz. Anulom-vilom, Kapalbhati, Shavasana etc.
So Let’s start to change our lifestyles on the three fronts of diet,
work and exercise.
Water Filters Come in Various Types
Water filters are not required in nature. Water reaches the planet in the form of precipitation and then moves along it in the way of streams of various sizes. Minerals that are crucial for life are absorbed by the water along the path. These minerals are absorbed when living beings drink the water. Ultimately, the water returns to the earth and goes on to the sea, from where it vaporizes and the cycle continues.
Whether in the form of raindrops or snowflakes, the water that falls down is pure. However, due to contamination by industries, storage of water in a centralized manner and other such reasons, it becomes difficult to find pure water and so water filters are required. In order to be useful to humans, water should be amenable to absorption.
Water filters are of different types, since the problems related to purification of water are different and require solutions that are different, as well.
Carbon Filters: These perform filtration’s basic functions and are not very expensive. The installation of these filters is also rather easy. When water is moved through these, the contamination are absorbed. The husk obtained from coconuts provides the medium for filtration in the form of charcoal medium carbon for some of these water filters. Despite that, these can clean out some of the most dangerous contaminants. Six to nine months is the duration for which an average carbon filter can be used effectively. Enhancement of its effectiveness can be achieved through the use of activated nano-silver.
These filters allow essential minerals to pass through, even as these stop a large number of contaminants from going across. deposit pre-filters may be required to be attached separately, in areas where large quantities of deposits are found in the water. Acidic contents in the water can not be rectified by such filters. Mold infestations have to be watched out against.
Distillation-based Water Filters: Impurities of all kinds can be cleaned out of the water through the process of distillation. This is in accordance with the belief that organisms that may harm the body are least likely to enter it through the purest form of water. For a long time that was thought of as being the best kind of water for the purpose of drinking. A distiller of the typical type, however, produces results that can be somewhat acidic.
Also, since there are no minerals to be found in distilled water, the balance of essential minerals in the body can also be impacted by drinking such water only. Along with the purity of water, the minerals that are found dissolved in water in its natural form are also significant and that is being increasingly realized by people nowadays. The metabolism and the immune reaction of the body is supported by such minerals and, therefore, these have a essential function to perform.
Ceramic Filters: A filter that can be fitted on top of a bench is generally fitted with a ceramic water filter. Algae that have been found in the watery portion of the earth for more than a hundred and fifty million years and are known as diatoms have left small-sized shells composed of silicon. These shells form a fossil substance known as Diatomaceous Earth, which forms an integral part of a ceramic filter. The outer shell of a ceramic filter, which is porous, is often impregnated with nano-silver, to protect the users of the filter against a number of bacteria.
Water Filters based on Reverse Osmosis: A fine membrane is used in these, for the filtration of water. Unfit water is made drinkable in this manner. The process of osmosis is reversed in such water filters, after being stopped, when pressure is applied after putting unfiltered water on one of the membrane’s sides. The water obtained after the process is very clean, even as the process is rather long drawn-out.

Advantages of Pole Dancing As a Fitness Aid
Pole Dancing as an exercise is not necessarily considered a legitimate workout by many fitness fanatics. Women who want to maintain a fit lifestyle either choose a daily indoor cardio routine or go for an outdoor jogging or cycling activity. There has been social stigma that pole dancing is only meant to be done in strip clubs. But in the past couple of years things are beginning to change and women have started to see it as a genuine routine for keeping their body fit. Due to this, more pole dancing training centers have cropped up in various cities across European countries.
Women actually get the same benefits that they get in doing regular gym workouts. At a training center, there will be certified instructors to train students. Instructors will also instruct upon the dress that needs to be worn while performing workouts. Usually, women will be asked to come with bare legs, so that they get a better grip with the pole. This shouldn’t be seen as an obstacle for taking up these routines. Women can drive in normal dress to the center and there they can change to dress that fits the workout requirements.
Another advantage of is that the women can see their complete legs from hip to toe. This can make them more determined to perform these routines to a high standard, to help tone their legs and hips. They will also be told to come in high heels by the instructors.
With respect to the routines, pole spinning, sliding up and down, and pole curling are taught by instructors. Students will be first taught how to grip the pole. Then they are taught basic spinning and sliding moves. After the basic movements, women are taught more sexy movements such as pelvic movements. This is not intended to titillate the audience, but to firm up the hips and reduce excess fat around the waist. This is one of the better methods that can be followed to reduce flab around the waist. Then there is the lap dance, which helps to strengthen the thighs and the back muscles and make them tight and firm. After training, women can consider setting up their own pole dancing hall with the help of readily available off-the-shelf pole dancing kits.
